History
POLAS studio was established in 1984 by a groupof friends interested in amateur film production and public musical performances. In the second half of the eighties POLAS became, thanks to its composed dance events in the center of Prague, a well known institution in Prague among secondary school pupils.
With the emergence of video and clip productions the studio's activities began to move from the sphere of public events to the more intimate environment of studios, where the production of amateur and feature video films began.
POLAS studio began professional production work on programs and other video services in 1991, when it was encorporated as the video section of AVICO company. Finally, in 1993 POLAS appeared as an independent private company with complete video production services.
Sponsored activities
Our studio prefers sponsoring in the form of technical services at reduced prices or completely free of charge. In this respect, we have been cooperating for several years with the Činoherní klub in Prague, Czech television, Zlín film school, Bambini di Praga choir and House of the Children and Youth of the Capital City Prague (DDM).
POLAS studio is also a main technical sponsor of the PAF festival (Prague Amateur Films Festival) and the permanent sponsor and partner of Czech Amateur Association of the Friends of Audiovision, which organizes the festival.
However, the most prominent project since 1996 is the "Videoclub". In cooperation with DDM. The working groups of young artists are given the opportunity to work on their own amateur projects using state-of-the-art studio technology, and also studio specialists are available for consultation and as expert advisors. Club members have won many awards at various festivals and some of them now plays professionally in the field already.
